There will be a visitation on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 from after 3:00 PM with family present from 5:00-7:00 PM at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Lake Park. Gillian Mary Nebelsick, the daughter of Norma (Hutchinson) and James Ledgard, was born November 1, 1962 in Dusseldorf, West Germany. She grew up in Somerset, England and lived a few years in California and Utah before moving to Lake Park in 1987. On January 4, 1988, Gillian married Calvin Nebelsick in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Gillian was a housewife and also worked as a bookkeeper for Nebelsick Trucking. Gillian had a strong passion for helping those in need in the community. Along with Terry Morrow and Denise Hemphill, she co-founded the Northwest Iowa Youth Athletic Association. She would drive carloads of children to the library for reading time in the summer. She also helped with the Boy Scouts and organized soccer clinics throughout the area with Score UK Soccer. For ten years she volunteered with emergency medical services in Lake Park as an EMT. Gillian cared deeply for animals and was very fond of cats, several of which she bottle-fed as kittens. The elderly had a special place in her heart as well, and she frequently made herself available to those who needed a hand. Even in declining health, she was still able to find strength to give guitar lessons to the local youth. Gillian attended a Roman Catholic Convent in England and later became a member of the Lake Park Methodist Church. She was a British Citizen, a member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and The Humane Society of the United States. Gillian passed away January 2, 2014 at her home in Lake Park, Iowa at fifty-one years of age. She is survived by her husband, Calvin of Lake Park; children, Tristam, Dominic and Marianne; sister, Valerie Ledgard and nephews, Jamie Ledgard and Robert Morrell of Bristol, UK; cousins, Teresa Hardaker and Jamie Ledgard; aunt, Betty Ledgard; special friends, Peter and Diane Branch of Somerset, UK; several other in-laws, relatives and friends. Gillian was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Ledgard; her father, James Ledgard and her sister, Jenny Morrell.
