Obituary of Cecelia Barber
A private family service will be held for Cecelia Barber, age 91, of Milford with burial at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery.
Cecelia Jane Barber, the daughter of Kjerstine (Midtaune) and Martin Rue, was born September 5, 1928 on a farm in Hendricks, Minnesota. After graduating high school, Cecelia attended college to become a nurse. She lived in various places in South Dakota, Minnesota and Nebraska before moving to Milford, Iowa in 1968.
On March 1, 1952, Cecelia was married to Dean Wallace Barber. While raising their children, the family vacationed all over the United States, Canada and Mexico, spending lots of time in campgrounds and cooking many meals over the campfire. Cecelia enjoyed being around people, found joy in helping others and always loved to give advice. She volunteered her time in many different ways whether it was working at voting polls, making sandwiches for church funerals or being a foster grandparent. She enjoyed cooking baking, puzzles and loved being with friends and family.
Cecelia was a member of the First Lutheran Church, VFW, Circle and HOBO Britt Convention.
Cecelia passed away March 27, 2020 at her home in Milford, Iowa at ninety-one years of age.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Ressler, her husband, Kenneth and their children, Alexis and Austin; son, Dennis Barber, his wife, Barbara and his children, Heather and David; son, Douglas Barber, his wife, Cheryl and his daughter, Stephaney and her son, Chad; son, Ricky Barber, his wife, Wendy and his children, Melissa and Michael and her son, Christian; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Victoria, Aiden and Jaxon; one sister, Laura Lee Rue.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, Martin Rue and Kjerstine Midtaune Rue; brothers, Raymond, Jim and Robert and her husband, Dean Wallace Barber.
