I worked with Dan at Dollar General and will always have fond memories of him. Whether we were talking about old sitcoms like the Andy Griffith Show or if it was about who got kicked off of survivor, he always made me chuckle. There was never a dull moment with Dan. Even after leaving the store, I would see him around town and always offer him a ride, where we could have a nice chat and catch up. He was a good one, and will definitely be missed.

I use to tell Dan he was a big Teddy Bear. He was always telling me he would kick some ones butt for some reason or another. And I would say "you're nothing but a big Teddy Bear."
The one thing I knew well about Dan is he like to tell TALL Tales. Never knew if he was telling the truth or not.

I am sad to hear of Dan's passing. He was a great guy and so happy go lucky. I also saw him most at Dollar General and visited with him. He loved to walk and only one time did he accept a ride from me. I will miss seeing him around town.My Sympathy to Irene and family now.

Dan was one of the quiet guys in our SLHS class. But a great guy with a terrific sense of humor. He will be missed.

I was a class mate of Danny at SLH. He could always make me laugh. I too heard his pool hall story in Jackson.
RIP. Be with the Lord my friend.

Dan was one of the guys I hung around with during my years as a student at Spirit Lake High school. The reason we hung together was 1) our off-beat sense of humor, and 2) Our interest in men's magazines of that era (I wish I had some of those back, as the cover art is now collectable!) My favorite memories of Dan are the pride he took in getting into a fight in a Jackson pool hall (he apparently beaned the other guy with the cue ball) and the pride he took in his car that had the push button gear shift.
Keep 'em laughing in heaven Dan, and maybe they won't notice the rest of the class of '68 sneaking in!

I worked with Dan for 12 years at Dollar General and he was always a joy to work with. We had become very good friends and coworkers. I remember us always bickering but we never meant any of things we would say to each other. He will always be remember and loved by me and all who got to know him.
