Obituary of Jewel Schwartz

A service celebrating the life of Jewel Schwartz, age 79, of Spirit Lake, will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 7:00pm at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Burial will be at the South Walnut Cemetery near Graettinger, Iowa at a later date. Friends may gather after 6:00pm on Thursday at Turner Jenness Funeral Home in Spirit Lake. Jewel Schwartz, the daughter of Mathilda (Simonsen) and Richard Schwartz, was born July 7, 1935. Jewel lived in Kansas City, Missouri and then in Terril, Iowa before moving to Spirit Lake, Iowa in 1950. Jewel worked as a dietary aide at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake for many years. She loved her work at the hospital and also enjoyed shopping with friends and music by Josh Grobin. Jewel also had quite the green thumb as she loved all flowers and plants. Jewel passed away on February 12, 2015 at her home in Spirit Lake, Iowa at seventy-nine years of age. She is survived by many friends in the community and her friends at Lakes Regional Healthcare and in the Dietary Department. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gene.
