I was about 10 years old and Jack took me out behind the old farmhouse. He wanted me to learn how to shoot. I guess I did OK since I didn't miss a thing.

Uncle Jack taught me how to skip rocks along the Potomac River when I was eleven. I especially like the above photo of him in his uniform. There is another favorite photo out there that I cannot find though. He was not exactly in uniform, but he looked really great wearing a lampshade. My Uncle Jack!

Uncle Jack helped me feel so special during my childhood and teen years. I remember him loading all us little cousins in the car to go fishing, and he would pretend to be an airplane pilot, making us giggle by announcing, "all passengers must fasten their seatbelts and NO Smoking!" We would fish for hours loading the boat up with perch.
He loved to travel we all know, and he shared that love by taking me all over Washington DC after my 8th grade year. Then I was privileged to spend the summer of 1969 in Germany with he and Belle. They took me to several countries. One funny memory from that trip occurred in Pisa, Italy. They still let you climb the leaning tower back then, so Jack and I, of course, did. Belle was SURE the Leaning Tower of Pisa would decide to fall with us on it, so she stayed below to pray!
Thanks for all the good times Uncle Jack. You will be sorely missed.

Dear Carmen,
My heart aches for you in the loss of your beloved "Jack".
I will always cherish the many great memories of him.
His smiling face walking into Sun Destin taking his place
at the bar--always so happy and wanting to enjoy life--as he did.
I will always remember how kind and generous he was to me
when I was in need. What a wonderful man he was.
I can see him now looking down on us with his buddy at his side
and a martini in hand saying "smile I love you"'
It was truly an honor and privilege to have known Jack.
With all my sympathy and love, Cookie
